I know some people in neighborhoods with close together houses who might go to the neighbors house with a baby monitor.  That's not everyone's choice, but I know plenty of people who do it.

BUt again, if you're not movie people, or you have no idea what their set up is like, this might seem like a weird invitation.  I'd personally invite adults over for drinks and talking.  (Pre kids we didn't go to the movies often, but when we did it was nearly always with friends, so watching movies together isn't that weird.)

The next time they ask, I'd shrug and say, that's great for you with Charlie, he is probably asleep by 7:30, but what would we do with our Jack?  It's just not really ever going to work for us.
