We have been lucky to have a wonderfully caring nanny for both of our young children. My oldest is now in PK3, and due to Covid we really never considered transitioning to day a with him. But I think there are a lot of benefits to daycare as they get older. What do you think is the ideal age to send a child to daycare?
depends on the kid's personality, level of independence and level of attachment to you. One of mine stayed home with me until K (we did preK activities and academics at home and she has always been advanced in math and reading at school) and always wanted to be with mommy or daddy. The other was ready to move out of the house and into his own place at 2 1/2. He forgot about us as soon as we were out of sight. (At school he does very well socially, but not academically.) I don't think there's any benefit to forcing a clingy toddler to go to preschool or daycare if you have the option to stay home with them. Instead of trying to keep in step with what other posters tell you is the ideal schedule, just tune in to your tot's needs and feelings. It's about what's ideal for your child, not some imaginary universal ideal.
