Wow. So I guess this is gonna be a weekly occurrence. Where is MCPS security? They are failing.
+1 good lord. All this RJ, social emotional learning, "we don't need SROs" seem to be doing jacksh1t. -RM parent whose kids just experienced this last week.
Well look, you didn’t need an SRO. The real cops handled it just like they should.
SROs are real cops, too, and they would be in the school rather than school having to call the police which takes time. They are trained to assess risk and deal with someone with a gun better than administrators or security guards. And since you didn't address the other part of my statement, I guess you agree: RJ and social emotional learning is BS. Get rid of it, and focus on the real issues. Huge achievement gap, violence in schools against students and staff.
Assuming SRO’s are like any cop is like saying any cop can do SWAT or murder investigations. No not all cops are the same. SRO s are not trained to assess anything, they have literally never stopped an incident from occurring.ever. RJ works for some and not for others. Principals need to be able to expel and moco needs to stop moving bad kids around. But that’s not new. In 1997 moco move Sheinbein from a W school to Kennedy and he killed someone’s and dismembered them.
BS they stopped a kid in Clarksburg https://wtop.com/montgomery-county/2018/02/md-school-resource-officer-shares-lessons-learned-after-student-brought-handgun/ SROs are trained better than administrators or security guards. RJ is stupid. Get rid of it. It's not doing anything. Do you have *any* proof that it's working in MCPS? I don't think so because if it did, I'm pretty sure the pro-RJ contingent would be publicizing it like Jesus is coming back.
No The SRO did not stop the Clarksburg kid. He brought a gun to school, a student told the secretary, the secretary told the SRO, they called the real cops the real cops handle that. You can publicize RJ because you would be public ally displaying discipline. We should bring back Scarlet A’s. 😂
You either didn't read the article or have reading comprehension issues. Or, rather, you are pushing #fakenews in hopes that that lies become the truth so you can push your narrative of "some kids feel uncomfortable with SROs in the school". https://wtop.com/montgomery-county/2018/02/md-school-resource-officer-shares-lessons-learned-after-student-brought-handgun/
Melott searched Chen to make sure he didn’t have any other weapons on him. The school resource officer then asked Chen if there was anything in his bookbag. That was when Chen admitted that he had a handgun in the bag. “I went in the bag, found the weapon — it was in a soft, zipper handgun case — verified that it was indeed a handgun, and then basically made the arrest there,” Melott said. He added that his time at Clarksburg has helped him build a rapport with the students and that it was important to have that connection so the students know he is there to protect them.
