Presuming that Cardin is stepping down, the hypothetical primary race would be Raskin, Calvin Ball and Mfume. Maybe Anthony Brown and Jawando also jump in. The only way Raskin wins the primary is Black voters get split 3-4 ways. However, he might also have to beat someone like O’Malley too, who could also run. I have a hard time seeing how Raskin would have broad appeal outside MoCo. He would basically have the Tom Perez coalition and we all see how well that worked for Perez.[/quote]

I imagine he has thought about it but the truth is that Sarbanes has been mailing it in for a long, long time. It is only for the grace of outrageous gerryanders that he still has his seat. So he might consider a run but I doubt he’d go past exploring the possibility.[/quote]
