USNWR has GMU among 8 schools tied for #64 among public universities and JMU among 11 schools tied for #72 among public universities. Not sure this is a huge difference. My DC only applied to these 2 VA schools and JMU was the much better choice for his major (he is there to learn from a specific music professor). I think it's impressive that VA has so many solid public options.
Well, of course JMU was better for music! Nevertheless, for all universities, GMU is at 137 and JMU at 151. For best public universities, GMU is 62 and JMU is 72.
As noted above, in the rankings they are one point apart. This difference is meaningless. Choose based on what appeals more to the student.
No, they are not one point apart. GMU is at 137 and JMU at 151 for national universities. For USNWR public university rankings, GMU is 62 and JMU is 72.
The actual composite scores being ranked are 55 and 56. There are a bunch of schools tied at a rank of 137 with a score of 56 and a bunch then tied at a rank of 151 with a score of 55. Focusing on rankings is ridiculous. Do you really think there is a meaningful difference in a 55 vs a 56?
