Posters are forgetting TC was a teenage heartthrob. Teen girls were his biggest fan base so of course he was in the closet. Male artists targeting that demo still hide it today. It took George Michael 18-19 years to walk out of the closet that most people knew he was sheltering. More importantly he did not willingly come out of the closest of his own volition. He was outed when he was busted for soliciting sex with a man in a restroom. GM would not have been accepted as gay earlier in his career. [/quote]

Elton John came out bisexual in the 70s and gay in the 80s.

It still took him, George Michael, eighteen years and that was only because he was outed. WHAM “wake me up” success was 1980. And he would not hAve come clean about his homosexuality in 1998 but  for his arrest for male solicitation. So stop with the bullshit.  You say Elton, I say, BFD. Elton was not a heartthrob crooner, however Johnny MAthis was.  I recall my mother drooling over Johnny while listening to his him sing “Chances Are”.
