It’s not that affluent and it definitely isn’t close-in to DC.  But if you don’t mind congestion, commuter hell, and a ton of families with very narrow interests, it’s probably better than living in Herndon or Ashburn. [/quote]

As a Vienna resident, I am surprised by the put downs. Everyone we know in Vienna is a highly educated professional with solid UMC or UC backgrounds. There are plenty of new McMansions and plenty of porches and jaguars driving around, along with Subarus and volvos. In my neighborhood I see kids who go to TJ, Holton and Green Hedges school along with the local public. Our neighbors are well traveled and cultured and down to earth, considering.
