French person here. My husband eventually figured out that a men's speedo wasn't the thing at the pool, but apart from that, anything goes for the kids. I am continually amazed at how Americans can be so prude in swimwear yet so free everywhere else.

I was going to say the same thing. This country is insane. Girls should not be told that they have to wait on bikinis until 12/13 or whatever you nutcases are thinking. Now that you are menstruating, it's ok bc now you are sexual? WTAF?! A little girl in a bathing suit is the last person who needs to feel like she needs to not wear a 2 piece because it is scandalous. All we do in the US is cater to crazy men--give them guns and have everyone else dress to avoid triggering them. INSANE. [/quote]
