What kind of vehicles are we talking about? Minivans? F150s? I have a family of 5 plus my mom lives with us. We don’t fit in a 5 seater.
Any vehicle over 3500 lbs pays 240% the registration fee and it escalates much higher from there.

The 2023 budget the D.C. Council approved includes a provision that raises the annual registration fee for most vehicles. The provision would take effect in 2024. Owners of vehicles that weigh more than 6,000 pounds will have to pay $500 per year. That's more than triple the $155 that those owners currently pay. Fees will jump from $155 to $250 for vehicles that are more than 5,000 pounds. Vehicles weighing between 3,500 and 5,000 pounds will go from $115 to $175. D.C. will not raise the $72 fee, however, for cars weighing 3,500 pounds or less.
https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/dc-vehicle-registration-will-more-than-triple-for-some-suvs-trucks-by-2024/3063961/ Lol oh look more crazy right wing lies.
God you’re stupid. Cannot even do basic math. Let me make it simple for you. What is the difference between $72 and $175?
 You have no idea how much it cost to register a car in DC do you? You really are stupid. Cars under 3,500 will pay $75. This is the same as before. Cars from 3,500 to 5,000 will go from 115 to 175. Wow just wow crazy right! What a nothing burgers.
Maybe I should be kinder because you clearly don’t have even a 6th grade education. 175 is 240% of 72. Get it now? If you pass the 3500 pound threshold, you will pay 240% more than if the vehicle is under 3,500. Unless you drive an EV. Then you get a free 1,000 lbs because the people who wrote this legislation know a lot of people who own EVs and don’t know anyone who owns light trucks. There also is an implied premise that “virtue” of an EV outweighs the safety hazards due to the weight and apparently there is nothing important or virtuous about owning a light truck, like a person that works with their hands. Do you understand now or do I need to explain it again but slower?
No you are just an idiot. You make up “facts” and you really have no idea what you are posting about. You do not live in DC do you? Oh the injustice of DC increasing car registration fees by $60! Oh the injustice of encouraging ownership of an EV by offering $100 reduction in registration! Do you know how much a car cost? It will blow your mind! Here is something that will piss you off EV in DC do not pay taxes and tags! Also the feds give you $7500 off your taxes and DC gives you $1,500 off tax to install a charge station. Let’s look at MD registration last raised in 2013 car up 3700 pound $135 car over 3700 pound $187 Virginia 4,000 pounds $30.75, 4,000 pounds and 6,500 pounds, $35.75 to renew. Wow how unfair charging people 15% more for heavier cars! Oh looks like there will be an increase coming your way soon!
What facts did they make up? Is their math incorrect? Glad you've stopped pretending that this is about safety or road maintenance.
