I do not care at all how DD is labeled so long as she is allowed to learn w/ a peer group and not held back by the teacher having to spend most of her time focusing on the much larger amt of the class that is likely to be below grade level (given the stats for my local east- county school).  But if the only way to try to push for that at this point is thru the "hook" of GI, then that's what I'm happy to use.  Not because I think DD is truly "gifted", but because I want her to be able to learn at her own pace - whatever the is - not at whatever pace the majority of her class happens to be at.[/quote]
