I quoted IOA, not because I am from, but because I helped a friend in appealing a magnet selection decision. Should not GTA know and quote IOA if they are advocating to MCPS to provide the service documented in MCPS policies? Is it wrong to expect a public organization to follow its own policy? BTW, I promise I will stop using the label for my kids if your group (since you said "we") can get us the ability grouping in local schools. Now can you identify your organization?

I've posted a lot on this thread. I'm the pp quoted above w/ a preschooler DD. Frankly I think at this point the poster insisting that "GTA is posting - I know it's you!!" is just trying to stir the pot since I and most of the others above concerned about this issue have stated clearly that we've gone on the GTA site and agree w/ the Challenge Every Child proposal but are not actually part of GTA.

I do not care at all how DD is labeled so long as she is allowed to learn w/ a peer group and not held back by the teacher having to spend most of her time focusing on the much larger amt of the class that is likely to be below grade level (given the stats for my local east- county school). But if the only way to try to push for that at this point is thru the "hook" of GI, then that's what I'm happy to use. Not because I think DD is truly "gifted", but because I want her to be able to learn at her own pace - whatever the is - not at whatever pace the majority of her class happens to be at.

This person who's posting is not an official of GTA. I can figure out who it is from the style of writing. I don't believe any GTA officers are posting on these threads, other than maybe to originally announce the superintendant's forum.

I agree with it too, this person seems to have an agenda to bash GTA without any evidence of the group doing anything that he/she accuses GTA of. When he attacks others it is totally fine, when others challenge him in his own game, they are attacking and they must be GTA [/quote]

I just read through the stuff on your email list. I know you guys just want to label your kids and feel superior. Do you honestly think that everyone in MoCo is dumb enough to believe your saying you just want the label to advocate for ability grouping? Get real GTA, we know your game. Remember how you guys claimed you called MCPS and they said HGCs won't be discussed tomorrow? You got called on it and had to admit it was WRONG. With snide comments you only show you are a weak leader. How can anyone unite behind an organization that isn't inclusive or honest? So far the GTA folks have shown they can attack our Superintendent, denigrate teachers, and go after parents. No, I am not united with the GTA. I supported you under a previous leadership.
