Just because you find something “stupid,” that certainly doesn’t make it objectively true. What individuals find enjoyable is subjective, and your opinion, while noted, is incredibly mean-spirited and unhelpful, especially coming off the heels of this disheartening experience for a child, and at this time of year no less. Hobbies are for enjoyment, “productive” or not (again, subjective). And games - video or otherwise - are perfectly fine ways for children and adults alike to invest in, pass the time, and merely take pleasure in. Games can also be a great way to learn/improve problem solving, strategizing, and other useful skills.

Being scammed sucks on its own. You don’t have to be an asshole and pile on to this mother and, by extension, her child.

I’m sorry this happened to your son OP. Do keep trying with the suggestions posted here. And there’s always a lesson to be learned going forward once the initial sting and sorrow your son is experiencing has passed.
