We just got back from DH's first and they couldn't complete the procedure! It wasn't (ahem) clean enough. WTAF??? we followed the prep instructions to the letter, nothing but broth and juice all day yesterday and oatmeal, steamed veg and potatoes the day before. He does have a history of constipation, but they never even asked. I am not super jazzed that he has to do this whole thing over again. I did read that there are other types of screenings that are not so invasive/don't require the same level of prep. Anyone have any info on that?
I was diagnosed with UC at 17, so I've had a lot of colonoscopies in my life. This happened to me once when I had a new doctor after moving who decided to try the gentler mag citrate prep with me. Obviously, I know how to follow protocol etc, but it still didn't clean me out enough. I was worried when going in, because I didn't feel as "empty" as I typically am. Now I always do Go-Lightly. And, FWIW, I lean toward the opposite of constipation, so this may have nothing to do with diet or overall gut health. Anyway...this happens, and it sucks.
