I had this for my first one a couple months ago. I felt kind of nauseous and gross, didn’t poop anywhere near as much as I expected I would, basically one poop then straight to clear liquid, started the prep at like 5pm for a 7am procedure (maybe 8am, don’t remember) so bad to wake up in the middle of the night for the second round of tablets. It sucked but it was fine if that makes sense. My husband has colon issues so gets them done like 3x a year and he says the sutab is a million times better than suprep.

Call your doc to get feedback. Read these colonoscopy threads for advice (drink slower, while standing/walkling, with a straw, suck on a yellow/green lifesaver, add crystal light, etc etc ). But I would do whatever you have to do in order to have a successful colonoscopy tomorrow. You do not want to be put at the end of the line for a rescheduled procedure. Who knows if covid cases will push off these procedures again.

Agree with all of this. Also try making sure it's *really* cold.

I had the same experience PP. Suprep is truly the worst thing I’ve ever ingested in my life. I basically never vomit and I ended up throwing all of it up 10 min after working so hard to get the first dose down. I cannot understand how anyone can drink it on an empty stomach without vomiting. I think part of my problem is that my doc had me drink a bottle of mag citrate before the Suprep, as I tend toward constipation. That made me queasy before even starting on the Suprep.

I was stressed out about the prep not working after I vomited the suprep so I called the nurse line and they said I could switch to Gatorade and Miralax. A whole freaking bottle of Miralax dumped into a pitcher of Gatorade LOL. Not fun but sooo much better than Suprep, and it worked.

WTAF??? we followed the prep instructions to the letter, nothing but broth and juice all day yesterday and oatmeal, steamed veg and potatoes the day before. He does have a history of constipation, but they never even asked.

I am not super jazzed that he has to do this whole thing over again. I did read that there are other types of screenings that are not so invasive/don't require the same level of prep. Anyone have any info on that?

I was diagnosed with UC at 17, so I've had a lot of colonoscopies in my life. This happened to me once when I had a new doctor after moving who decided to try the gentler mag citrate prep with me. Obviously, I know how to follow protocol etc, but it still didn't clean me out enough. I was worried when going in, because I didn't feel as "empty" as I typically am. Now I always do Go-Lightly. And, FWIW, I lean toward the opposite of constipation, so this may have nothing to do with diet or overall gut health.

Anyway...this happens, and it sucks.

No, not at all. I was told to go low fiber the week before and gradually ease in. I also used diaper cream and wet wipes when I was emptying. No sore bum.

I’ve had many colonoscopies (thanks cancer) and never at issue.

Just drank most of my first dose of Supra prep. OMG it is awful. Downright nauseating. It gave me a headache. Holy um cow this is bad. I don't think I can drink it. And I'm not normally squeamish.

NP -- I felt dazed for an hour after waking up from sedation but I think that was from to lack of sleep due to extensive cleansing prep! Once I got home, I felt normal and went out to run errands (yes, I drove).

OP, here, the sedation made me sleep but I didn't have that weird drunk feeling afterwards. I just slowly woke up and felt alert and ready to move around. I was nervous and not listening closely to the anesthesia folks when they told me what it was going to be. I much preferred this to that giddy feeling I have had before after surgery.

Thanks for the update! So glad to hear you got a clean bill of health.

I’ve been sedated twice. The first time I just had the sleep drugs and not the happy drugs. It was like being forced to fall asleep, which wasn’t as bad as I feared; then, it was like slowly waking up from the best nap ever and then going on with my day.

The second time I had the happy drugs. I remember the anesthesiologist asking where I wanted to go “on vacation” and I barely remember anything past that. On waking up I was a bit more woozy because it took a while for the happy drugs to work themselves out.

Next time I’ll probably ask for a half dose of the happy drugs. But neither was an unpleasant experience!

Nope. I was a little out of it waking up, but there was no pain.

I’ve had many colonoscopies (thanks colon cancer) and never been sore there due to colonoscopies.

The pain is from irritated skin from going to the bathroom so many times due to the prep, not from the actual colonoscopy.
