They are trying to reverse the course of a growing number of kids like my son who left VYS for a bigger challenge into ECNL. But, the market is already oversaturated with ECNL/MLS Next options. Not every kid can, should or will ultimately want to play in these leagues. It's a huge commitment, and there's no need for a town of 16,000 to be fielding a club that goes up against a talent pool that covers much of MD or NC. I don't think anyone is saying that the Town of Vienna is ready to field an ECNL team by themselves.  More that there are 18 ECNL level players in each age group who live somewhere near the center of Fairfax County that should have an opportunity to compete at that level without driving to Mclean, VDA, Loudoun, or Arlington - all of which are already successful ECNL programs.  BRYC should be satisfying that market, but they are not.  It's because BRYC hasn't been successful, not because the players aren't available.  Vienna has done more with less, so they could be a big part of the solution if some clubs could get together and figure it out.

GA might make sense for VYS if a partnership to enter ECNL was not an option.[/quote]
