Chances are that a black person would know many more children of their own race than a white person would. A sub travels around. She could be on the west side of the county on Monday, up in Damascus on Tuesday, in some hell hole on the east side on Wednesday, and so on. Her chances of getting a well-rounded view of MCPS classrooms is much better than a teacher who stays at the same school for years. I would defer to the black lady as more knowledgeable than any other poster on here.
This is where your argument fails. The sub did not see the American Black children as of her race. Her race in her mind was African. It's not a race, I know, but that is how this idiot distinguished. Sought of like how the Serbs and Bosnians share skin color but felt they were of a different race. The Germans of WWII shared the same race as the European Jews, but the Germans found away of distinguishing and placing the Jews in a different racial category. The Tutsi and Hutsi of Rwanda, and so on and so on. So, no. Just because she share the same skin color does not make her an authority of Blackness. She is a bigot and her statement is no more appropriate than if a White Anglo-Saxon Protestant was making the comments. I hope the OP reported her to the appropriate authorities. I would not want that woman teaching my child. The sub already has predisposed low-expectations of a subset of students. How well do you think she would attempt to engage them in learning?
