To state that volvo lacks status because it is owned by a chinese company implies that volvo had status when it was owned by a swedish company. Which it did not.
We all know what China means- cheap components, low standards. I would let my kid play with a Chinese toy and not ride in a China-car, either.
My problem with Chinese goods and Communist control of companies is not racist, it’s based upon a lack of faith in regulation, oversight, and incentives for manufacturers to produce safe and reliable goods. If they shipped a Chinese car, liberals wouldn’t ride in it because they would think it’s unsafe and conservatives would deride it as an import akin to Hitlers VW. Buying Volvo was smart of Geeley, how hands on are they? Is it design, development, and engineering all still done in Sweden? Or have they incorporated Geeley supply and product lines into their production? PP says they are handling better than Ford, innovating in what way?
