I haven’t signed my kid up because I don’t want my kindergartner who just turned 5 to have a stranger do an uncomfortable nasal swab without mom or dad there to reassure him 🤷🏻♀️
These are the shallow swabs FWIW
+1 Takes 2 seconds. Not invasive. Kids will be fine. It's the freak-out parents who can't deal.
It’s not 2 seconds, it’s 15 seconds in each nostril (https://www.resourcepath.net/mid-nasal-swab/). For young kids who have had barely any “normal” school in the past two years, it’s invasive. Will I keep them home if symptomatic or if we’ve potentially been exposed, yes. Will I take them to our pediatrician to have them tested, yes. Do I want a someone they don’t know swabbing their nose randomly, no.
