It’s interesting. I live in Bethesda and all of the different country clubs have their own shows. It’s basically every night leading up to the 4th and I can hear all of them. For example, tonight is Kenwood. It’s loud as hell and yet no one takes to DCUM to complain. There’s a mystery here.
I assume these country club shows have permits and licensed operators? Yeah, pretty different situation when its a few dumb teens in the alley 3 feet away from your house. One carries a high risk of injuries and fire, the other is almost always safe. Maybe they're both noisy, but that's the only similarity.
Nope. My MoCo neighborhood has at least 3-4 neighbors who all do their own unregulated probably dangerous fireworks shows around the 4th. I mean, we don't even bother to go see any fireworks, just set up chairs on our deck when we hear the noises. Do people complain on Nextdoor? Sure. Are they that much different than the young brown guys setting off fireworks or whatever in the district? Not really, just older and lighter.
I had a retired neighbor a couple years ago have a massive party with a band and mortar fireworks out of his back yard. Same guy also had an election party and lit a ton fireworks when Obama won re-election in 2012.
