The rocking could leverage him forward enough so that he was leaning over his knees enough to be able to stand up on his own.  He slept in that lounge chair for a few weeks.

We purchased the lounge chair from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and it cost about $150 for one that retails for about $700-800.  It was definitely worth it.
