Mine is in compacted math got 260 and is in IM next year. If your kid is strong and is coasting you should ask to test them. My old DS is same coaster will not admit things are boring.
For parents of current 5th graders - quick survey and trying to see if the info would help me talk to my DC's teachers. What was your child's 5th grade spring MAP-M score? Is your child in compacted 5/6 math? Will your child take Math 6 or IM next year? I'll go first: 243/Not in compacted/Math 6 next year. Wondering if this score is good to request a test for IM placement? additional info: DC is solid in math, tends to coast along if not challenged. Should I let DC be in Math 6 and coast along or request acceleration? Trying to see what the average MAP-M 5th grade spring scores are and where my DC is. Is there any point in talking to the teachers? Thanks for your input!

As I posted earlier in previous years 240 was the cutoff for being placed in 6th grade IM. I think it was a soft cutoff. I'd discuss with your kids MS counselor.
