I am surprised that no one has mentioned that these are also used as financial investments. They hold their value, and can often result in a higher margin if you sell it than many other investments.
Seriously. I own a B35 and K25 and also send my kids to private school. One of these is much more of an investment than the other!! The private school money is gone forever...
That is sad you think an expensive purse is a better investment than education.
It's sad that you don't understand that private school tuition isn't an investment at all. It's a luxury good, and one that I can never liquidate. Which is fine, I can afford it for my kids and they're having a good experience, but let's do try to be clear-eyed about it.
Maybe you should put them in DCPS instead.
Why? They’re enjoying the luxury experience and I sure appreciate being treated like a client and not like someone in line at the DMV—especially in the pandemic. But it’s very obviously not an “investment.”
You can’t be serious? You really do not realize all the advantages provided by attending a good private school; social connection, education quality, and the opportunities it provides/opens. What advantages in life does a Birkin provide?
This is what people who spend money on private school or attended private school say but does it REALLY? I went to a top tier private school here years ago and reaped no benefits from social connections. I reaped no benefits going there for my current and past jobs. In fact, sometimes it’s been a bit of a detriment especially in some social circles. People see you as a privileged spoiled brat. There are so many great public schools in this area and private schools your kid has to compete with everyone. The ivy leagues only take a few or a couple of any from each school. Private school if you’re somewhere where the school system isn’t great is understandable but if you live in the burbs around here I think it’s a waste of money. I have plenty of friends who also went to top private schools here and who have kids who went and I see kids and parents who are not well adjusted. They are under incredible amounts of stress and expectations of what life is supposed to be like. And when they don’t achieve goals like a top tier school or job they get extremely depressed. I know several friends whose kids are seeing therapists due to severe depression.
