I've ridden the metro thousands of times and never worried about getting robbed.. Just because vre is full of middle aged people doesn't make it any safer than the metro.

I'm talking about how it would take 1hr + to get to union station from burke. VRE is definitely a nicer ride than the metro but the constant delays and lack of available times (runs every 45 mins during rush hr and pretty much stuck in dc if you need to go home during the day) made me resent it so much. I hated the feeling of potentially missing my train because that would mean I'd have to wait another 45 minutes to go home or to work. [/quote]

There is a plan to upgrade VRE to more frequent service, in both directions, all day. Also to connect to MARC in Maryland. Whether or not this plan is implemented in your lifetime is another question, but if it is implemented, it will be a game-changer for the whole region.[/quote]
