Let's not forget the lawyers' role in the Penn state thing. A graduate asst. tells Coach Paterno that he saw Sandusky raping a 10 year old in the shoer of the Penn State football stadium. Paterno tells the Athletic Director first thing the next morning. Then what happens. 10 days go by. Lawyer up, lawyer up, lawyer up until finally the AD goes into a meeting with the witness and bring's the person who's job it is to protect the financial interest of the school ( the VP of finance and the supervisor of campus police). That is a VERY weird combo of roles, perhaps a crafted one based on loyalty. Anyway, these two people take his statement, then later serve as witnesses for each other that the grad asst did not report anything of the kind that sounded like rape, "just horsing around". They have deniability because it is two against one. THAT whole move was done under legal advice. Is that raquteering or just conspiracy. Or is it just being a sad sorry, amoral piece of crap of a human being. I hope they all go to jail for a long time( accessories to all the rapes that occured after) Will someone please tell me why/how the judge allowed this monster with a 20-30 year history as a child rapist out on $100,000 bond? He is a predator of the weakest , most vulnerable in our society. What was that judge thinking ?
I heard the judge was involved with Sandusky's charity - I can't remember if he was a big donor, on the board, or what, but there is definitely a link there.
The judge who turned down the DA's request for $500,000 secured bond AND an ankle bracelet and released Sandusky to his own recog on $100,000 unsecured bond is a SHE. Shocking, I know. But then again in PA , judges are elected by the public for most court levels and they aren't necessarily educated in child predators or pedophila. They are not required to take continuing Ed in these areas. Or at least they weren't many years ago when I was working in Phila. I remember a horrific case in which a doctor at CHOP was testifying as an expert about a child abuse case and the judge ruled in the defendants favor saying that he didn't think the prosecution's ( the Phila DA's) case was made that the step-father did what the child and other witnessed and physical evidence showed because this judge thought and I quote ," if he really is a child abuser he would have beaten ALL the kids in the house, not just one". This judge was a male, had been voted onto the bench 30 years before and had no continuing Ed requirement eventhough he was a family court judge. Does it surprise ANYONE, after what we are all learning has been going on for decades in State College, that a judge might be "in the pocket" of powerful people in town. Just my humble opinion, of course.
