Nothing here either. 2 year old and I have been regularly sick since she started daycare in 2018. For 2020 until now,it’s been a complete turn around! It really makes you wonder.
That childcare is a cesspool of germs? Yes it is, but doesn’t last forever and I still prefer to get it out of the way before kindergarten.
It doesn’t work that way, unfortunately. Viruses like colds and flus mutate so the whole “daycare prevents them from getting sick in k” is an old wives tale. Certainly true in my family’s case (until this year). My daycare kids were always as sick as frequently as everyone else.
Not for us or other families we know. The first winter in daycare was a constant stream of illnesses, second was better, and since then my kids have had maybe 1 cold/bug a year and we’re now in pre-K-lower elementary. Viruses mutate, but your immune system learns and can keep up better when it’s primed with prior exposures. https://www.webmd.com/parenting/baby/news/20020220/day-care-helps-boost-kids-immunity https://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2016/05/31/day-care-infections-may-mean-fewer-sick-days-later/
