So many futsal marketers on these boards... If you want to play futsal go ahead, but don’t pretend it’s some sort of soccer training equivalent. Different ball, different surfaces, different tactics, etc...
Christian Pulisic's dad coached a pro indoor soccer team when Christian was 8. Do you think the guy wearing #10 for Chelsea grew up playing indoor soccer? No, he did not. His dad made sure Christian only played futsal when he was little. That should tell you everything you need to know about indoor soccer vs futsal
Do you know his father? My sibling played in college with him and on a professional indoor soccer team with him as well. I’m not sure you have all of the facts there.
Yep. His father and coaches actually encouraged him to play it and they credit it for his footskills today in the Premier League. https://www.soccerwire.com/resources/how-futsal-helped-christian-pulisic-excel-in-the-premier-league/
I’m fascinated at how people can take one aspect of one player and assert that that player’s one experience is solely responsible for his success and the appropriate path for all people. Did all the premier league players who did not bother with futsal credit their success to focusing on soccer and not being distracted by games developed solely to account for lack of outdoor space in urban areas? Sometimes it feels like futsal guys are to soccer is similar to what Paltrow is to wellness.
My guess is that you are also anti juggling guy too. The amount of touches and the quick decisions that a typical futsal game offers is tremendous compared to a typical soccer game. Futsal is a tremendous game for young players to add to their regimen. It is terrific fun, the games are brief so it is possible to play multiple games a day or weekend. But futsal in the later years is it’s own thing and while still useful for technical work and maintaining fitness it losses some tactical correlation to soccer. You are free to think it isn’t useful and when your kid gets older and hits a developmental wall futsal will be there to give a try.
