If you just made it free play, do you know how many kids would come? Maybe about 6. You charge $125 a kid and make teams with standings, you get enough kids for a league. Makes no f-ing sense to me but this is the way it is.

Courts are open for free play and pick up games, so I am a little lost on your point, and although I agree with you about basketball as an excellent cross-training choice to reduce RSI and burnout, I also don't think establishing a futsak league is antithetical to development for those who may feel differently than you? Why would that be true?

Christian Pulisic's dad coached a pro indoor soccer team when Christian was 8. Do you think the guy wearing #10 for Chelsea grew up playing indoor soccer? No, he did not. His dad made sure Christian only played futsal when he was little. That should tell you everything you need to know about indoor soccer vs futsal

Do you know his father? My sibling played in college with him and on a professional indoor soccer team with him as well. I’m not sure you have all of the facts there.

Yep. His father and coaches actually encouraged him to play it and they credit it for his footskills today in the Premier League.

I’m fascinated at how people can take one aspect of one player and assert that that player’s one experience is solely responsible for his success and the appropriate path for all people. Did all the premier league players who did not bother with futsal credit their success to focusing on soccer and not being distracted by games developed solely to account for lack of outdoor space in urban areas? Sometimes it feels like futsal guys are to soccer is similar to what Paltrow is to wellness.

My guess is that you are also anti juggling guy too.

The amount of touches and the quick decisions that a typical futsal game offers is tremendous compared to a typical soccer game. Futsal is a tremendous game for young players to add to their regimen. It is terrific fun, the games are brief so it is possible to play multiple games a day or weekend.

But futsal in the later years is it’s own thing and while still useful for technical work and maintaining fitness it losses some tactical correlation to soccer.

You are free to think it isn’t useful and when your kid gets older and hits a developmental wall futsal will be there to give a try.

My 7 year old son plays futsal for Alexandria. Due to covid they are running their league entirely outside this year. It makes for some cold games for spectators but futsal is so fast paced that it is exciting to watch. Most, if not all, of the kids on our team are outdoor players that love the game. I would say guess futsal skills would translate well to outdoor, though not necessarily the other way around. SYC, Stoddert, Arlington definitely have futsal teams (we have played against them).

IME, the kids who played futsal past u13 well, were also the noticeably better players outside. in every aspect.

I wonder, though, if there is a correlation with dedecation level to developing the skills that causes that, rather than the futsal itself per se? Who knows.

About a year ago, the coach told me that he didn't see the team playing league futsal for the U13 (this year) and beyond. In his eyes, this is a point where training to get better in futsal is no longer advantageous for (outdoor/full-field) soccer development.

Wonder if the outdoor team roster increase and that issue has more to do with it than the development issue.

Does anyone know of a serious futsal program for girls (u14-u17)?

Is Alexandria any good?

Yes, it is good because futsal ID only accepts athletic kids and the coaches are pretty good, for the most part, but it is also mostly outdoor soccer players working on skills over the winter.

I posted earlier and think it's useful. But I certainly don't think that somebody's kid is not good if they don't play, or that somebody's kid is good at outdoor if they play futsal. I do think all kids would be better off without the kind of preposterous reasoning you display above. You got issues.

Sure, for that, just join DC Hyper.

I’m fascinated with the ignorance of how people can’t see the value of Futsal.

But then again, if their DC is only big/fast without any technical skills, they will completely dismiss any benefits of futsal.

Great Falls/Reston seems expensive.
I don't believe Bethesda or Mclean have a serious in-house program.
The FCV program is expensive (they charge parent spectators)
