So why don't you tell your boss you don't need 40 hours and stay at home a few more hours a week with your children? Are you paid by the hour?

Nanny here- I wonder how all of you would feel if I came on here and posted that for 5.5 hours a day I left your kids to play alone and just did the minimum at work all day, collecting my pay, while surfing on the net all day....... Pathetic! You are probably the same people who begrudge your nanny a measly 5 minute personal phone call during her 12 hour work day.
My kids are in elementary school. I pick them up right after. Bite me.
..........and your point is?
But you still should be ashamed of yourself if you have any moral. I don't have a nanny (or ever did) so I am not begruding any phone calls.

I am amashed why? I complete the entire amount of work I am required to complete at the end of each 40-hour week cycle and have passed every quality exam/review of my work for the last 16 years. There are some people in my position that take much longer to get the same amount I do done. My friend was one of them. I have always been a fast reader/analyzer. I do not feel guilty or immoral. I am not cheating anyone. In fact, I am one of the most celebrated workers in my office.

I'm not the PP, but I have to be at my desk to take calls and in my office if there needs to be an impromptu meeting. When I am at work (3 days a week), I have to be in the office the whole time. I work from home 2 days a week. When I work from home I'm always available via cell, even after I finish my work (which normally I do the day before in the office, anyway). I am usually running errands, doing chores or at the park with my son and can take calls while doing those things. If I didn't have to be physically in my office (or at least the building) 3 days a week, I would be doing other stuff because the actual working portion only takes 30% of my day and the rest is dealing with people.
