"You should be ashamed of yourself wearing that. Have some standards! A lady doesn't leave the house without her makeup and earrings...." Etc. If you want your daughter to dress a certain way, that is what you have to hammer in over and over again. "We just don't do that. Jeans are NOT appropriate wear. Have some respect for yourself by dressing appropriately" and so on. My mom never did that to me so I feel fine wearing schlumpy clothes, personally.[/quote]
