Some day I will tell my kid that I don't talk to my own mother and explain why, in whatever age appropriate way. And that will be a lesson that he does not need to put up with abusive people in his life. I would much rather teach that, than the idea that you are obligated to entertain abusive people til the end of your days because they happened to be your parents.[/quote]
