She does have a ditzy, stunted quality. I hate her lisping, little-girl voice in interviews. Not a bright woman for sure. She's one of my least favorite actors for sure.
I don’t know about not being smart. She co-founded a production company in 1995. But yes, she comes off as a ditz in interviews. Lisping can sometimes be genetically impossible to correct. I find her annoying at times but I do admire her in some ways. Her mother had primary custody of her and basically let her young child party like an adult. The fact that she didn’t die young is pretty amazing. She got into rehab and has had a successful career from child actress into adulthood. I can only think of a few people who did this successfully like Ron Howard and Jason Bateman. They both were raised by better parents.
Jodie Foster too
Brooke Shields
Yeah, and they all had way better parents than Drew.
Eh, debatable that Teri was way better than Jade Barrymore.
*Teri Shields
Jade was worse than Teri because in addition to exploiting Drew, she kept her out of school, denying her an education, and took her to parties nightly and was told people it was okay to offer her 9 year old child drugs and treat her like an adult. Jade rarely visited her during the year plus she was in rehab at 13 because she was too busy partying herself. Drew also lost all her money after her emancipation from Jade at age 14 and was living in a dump and working minimum wage jobs. Teri might have exploited her daughter in a way that was totally inappropriate, but she also didn't try to kill her and leave her for dead.
