I live in the Newington Forest neighborhood in Springfield, and our HOA’s pool just announced it was closing for the whole summer. They laid out a bunch of regulations they would have had to follow which are news to me, like no furniture on the pool decks and only 10 people allowed in at a time including lifeguards? Has anyone heard of this? If that’s true information, I don’t think any of the pools will choose to open.
Those are the phase 1 guidelines- although the 10 people does not include lifeguards. Its no furniture and only 10 people for lap swimming only, 1 swimmer per lane. I don't feel like searching for it right now- but you can find the guidance fairly easily on the governor's web page. No, I don't think many will open under Phase 1 conditions- but I don't expect to be in Phase 1 for long. Gov said 2-4 weeks per phase.
We aren't far from Newington Forest (pretty close actually). We heard during our board meeting that they aren't opening. We are not an HOA pool, but rather a private club. We will be opening for lap swim under Phase 1, one person per lane, nobody on deck, so no furniture usage. I'm aware of 3 nearby planning to open for lap swim and one that is not (in addition to NF) and one that is closed for the entire summer.
