They are struggling to get students to apply as it is now. And they have been test optional for decades. While also maintaining low test score averages.

With more schools going test optional, the advantage of being a test optional school decreases as there is more competition to enroll the same students.

I don’t think that is true. They are one of the most financially fit institutions in the country. Better than UChicago, Tufts, Vanderbilt, Amherst, and others. [/quote]

There are many colleges with better endowments per student, especially considering Wake has a medical school (medical schools typically have much, much higher endowments per student than other parts of universities.  I think Wake's biggest advantage is the average income of the families of students is 11th highest (according to NYT analysis), which probably means they have more paying full tuition or close to full tuition.
