I work with low income college students and am really frustrated with schools that are completely closing dorms. I'm near Boston, and we are expecting it get bad, but, to me, shelter in place seems like the better strategy.[/quote]
My rough understanding is that the universities were informed by some government entity (can't remember which, maybe state dept of health) that they needed to lower density ASAP.  BU and Northeastern allowed kids to stay on campus, though I wonder if they have a smaller portion of kids dorming compared to H, MIT, BC.  I would have much preferred my kid to have stayed in the dorm, though someone must have really freaked out the colleges for them to make this decision.[/quote]
