It seems contradictory - don't touch stuff in the bathroom, but oh you didn't listen, then get on the grimy floor.

And as others PP have mentioned his name and medical diagnoses are now public record.

Im always weary of the whole "he wasn't listening" and so he needed punishment aspect. I think some parents hold this listening leash too tight and have too high a standard - especially when a kid is in store or has been shopping for hours or in a very stimulating environment like Disneyworld or a big party. I have some sensitivities to stimulation - especially noise and light- with my ADD. Too much noise, too much light, too many people can make me twitchy. I easily get flustered, hot, and crabby. During labor, I had to beg for them to turn the lights down because I couldn't concentrate on relaxing with fluorescent lights in my face. Kids at that age still need to develop control over their impulses and use language to try and work through their concerns.

Shaming doesn't work either and that whether that was the intent, it certainly was the outcome.
