"Real" Irish twins (kind of a problematic term IMO) are rarer now but not at all unheard of. My aunts are 11 months apart.
I know quite a few in my moms group. It’s pretty common. These are people who want a second child. They’re still breastfeeding and haven’t gotten their period back. And voila they’re pregnant when they don’t use birth control. They keep the baby because they wanted a second.
Really? Quite a few? Just in your moms' group? LESS THAN 12 months apart? Where the heck is this? Among the 7 couples that birthed with my midwives the same month as I did, 2 of the first-time moms did get pregnant again pretty quickly, both times unintentionally... but they were still 15-18 months apart. Not less than 12. I know a fair number of people who had 2 under 2, but my comment was about "real" ITs, and that's <12 months apart.
