In 1991, 68% of Black children were born outside of marriage. In 2011, 72% of Black babies were born to unmarried mothers. In 2015, 77% of Black babies were born to unmarried mothers. With these stats, it’s not even a subcultural norm...it’s just the norm. (And yes, I realize the Kardashians are white. Just saying single motherhood isn’t unusual...especially if you are a Kardashian.)
Link?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_family_structure Here you go. I work in the anti-poverty arena, and these rates are well known as drivers of poverty. After all, two incomes are better than one. The Kardashians and other celebrities who seemingly champion early parenthood and single parenthood are definitely bad examples. I wish minority married couples like Beyoncé and Jay Z would do PSAs encouraging delayed parenthood within marriage. If successful, I bet we could cut the poverty rate dramatically.
Something is off with this Wikipedia link and the person who placed the information in it. What happened to white birth rates after 1990. It looks as though the person putting in dat just stopped. I’m seeing some bias in reporting and manipulating of information
