Is the same person just responding to this thread saying the same thing? Team Sussex? Sounds like junior high. MM always needs to play the victim - first it was her dad, now the media. The other royals have endured bullying (Sarah, Charles, even Kate) by the media and somehow got through it without whining. You’re a public figure- you can’t force everyone to be nice.
DP. No, I think those of us not completely blinded by hatred recognize that the BM have been loathsome toward Meghan in a way that hasn't been seen in twenty years, if ever.
Yeah no. They only latch on to the stories she's provided them. Kate and those before her didn't have such drama with their immediate family feeding info directly to the tabloids. Nor did she have such a murky past with a prior divorce and ex-friends dishing to the tabloids so it's not really a fair comparison. They pretty much treated Camilla the same as MM because she had such a sordid past so let's not pretend like MM is being singled out all of a sudden.
Exactly right.
No, exactly wrong. Camilla was treated worse than Meghan and like the whore of Babylon up until the DAY SHE GOT MARRIED. The minute Charles put a ring on his former mistress' finger, the press left her alone. Meghan has faced all of this false criticism from the moment it became known she was his girlfriend, through their wedding, through her pregnancy, and now with a newborn. The press left Waity Katie and Mistress Camilla behind when they became royals. They did not extend Meghan the same courtesy.
I'm sorry, were Kate and Camilla leaking letters to the press and then starting rumors about their BILs cheating on their SILs to take the heat off them?
Are you stupid? The lawsuit is about the leaked letter, which Meghan still has copywrite over. She didn't leak it. William's wandering d!ck was apparently leaked by Rose herself.
She doesn't have copyright over a personal letter. If she's enough of a douche to copyright a personal letter to her dad, she's even crazier than I thought. And no, William didn't cheat on kate. Everyone knows this. It was a rumor leaked by Meagain to get the press off her.
She does have copyright. It's whole basis of this suit. I don't even care about William cheating, it'll all come out eventually. Copyright law states that the AUTHOR is the owner of the legal rights to the letter. Thomas didn't write it so he couldn't sell it without Meghan's permission. Which is exactly why numerous other papers refused to touch it. The DM was just foolish enough to go ahead. If you don't believe that, go look up Prince Charles lawsuit over the publication of his private journal. He won his case for the exact same reason.
But she sent the letter to someone. her father had it in his possession fair and square for him to do as he wished. Completely different from a private journal that wasn't meant for anyone else to have in their possession. If someone sends me something, it is mine to do with as I please. I don't think you have copyright on a personal letter sent to other people.
Great, you think something and suddenly it should be law. Well wishes and fairies don't exist. Please shut up. COPYRIGHT definitely does apply to personal correspondence and private records such as diaries and family photographs. The copyright legislation of countries such as England, Australia and the United States (to name just three) specifically protects 'literary and artistic' works, as well as musical and performed works (although the law is more complicated with respect to these.) Judicial cases have consistently held that works need not be of great aesthetic or intellectual value to warrant copyright protection: they merely need to be original to the author, artist or creator. For this reason, it definitely would be a breach of copyright for a friend to publish the letters that you had sent him or her, and you could seek an injunction to prevent such publication, or damages if the publication had already taken place. https://www.theguardian.com/notesandqueries/query/0,,-2260,00.html
