I have asked this question here before and haven’t seen any D candidates address the problem beyond the “all are welcome” vague rhetoric.
DP I posted on another thread that I've been wondering the same thing as OP for years. I sometimes even come on this board to see if I can get a better understanding of where the pro-illegal immigration posters are coming from. I truly think it must come down to money. Maybe we need to follow the money. Who is going to benefit from the millions of dollars being spent in CA to provide illegal immigrants with health insurance? Maybe some providers, but mostly it will be the insurance companies who benefit. Taxpayers pay for the health insurance, and the state pays the insurance companies. Maybe that's why that law ultimately passed? In Maryland, CASA de Maryland is an insanely corrupt organization that is raking in money and has a ton of political influence. There are plenty of wealthy people in the US who are benefiting from the current system of illegal immigration. Maybe I'm a cynic, but I truly believe it must come down to money. Why else would there be such a lack of support for immigration reform? This seems like it should be an issue that people should agree on. Illegal immigration benefits nobody, except the wealthy (cheap labor) and politicians (votes).
there's a TON of research out there showing that immigration (illegal and legal) has more benefits than costs for the entire country ... but I don't expect you to engage honestly with it. I tried that here and y'all demonstrated you don't care about actually learning about it.
short-sighted It does not benefit the school systems. Illegally entering a school is draining, as many are placed into ESOL classes, which means allocations are shifted around. In the long run, your "average" kid is in classes of 30+ students, absent of the necessary rigor to push him/her to the next level. The "average" kids-turned-adults are those who will be paying for your daily a** wipes in the home! We are graduating students who are barely reading AT grade level. "Earning" an A is a joke. So what's our future looking like? So while many illegal immigrants are taking jobs Americans don't want, we need to 1) examine which jobs can be automated and 2) instill in our young citizens (born here, naturalized) the importance of "paying your dues" in the workforce. nothing wrong with a privileged kid serving coffee at his/her local D&D or bussing tables at the local cafe off my soapbox
