That is true, but Biden is in favor of doing nothing at all, which only lets the problem grow bigger and bigger.

A Fair and Welcoming Immigration System
too many ideas to list - But this caught my eye, as we have many of these services in place. CASA immediately comes to mind.
[b]Create an Office of New Americans. I’ll establish an Office of New Americans dedicated to supporting new immigrants as they transition into our society and economy, and task that office to draft a national strategy for integration. We should provide English, civics, and employment-focused classes and training for immigrants who want to enroll, and work with faith groups and other community organizations to provide support services for refugees and asylees, providing the tools to make it easier for newcomers to integrate into their communities.

- Welcome Syrian refugees and fight any bans
- Blocking the DREAM Act is crazy; it's how we built America
- Against involving city police in immigration matters
- Provide lawyers and evidence for children being deported.

Senator Klobuchar will jump-start negotiations for comprehensive immigration reform — which includes a pathway to citizenship, the DREAM Act and border security — with the stated goal of passing it in the first year of her presidency. Comprehensive immigration could reduce the deficit by $158 billion.

Biden: https://joebiden.com/joes-vision/
It’s no secret that our immigration system is broken, and for years, we have lacked the political will to fix it. We can secure our border and enforce our laws without tossing aside our values, our principles, and our humanity. Putting people in cages and tearing children away from their parents isn’t the answer. We have got to address the root causes of migration that push people to leave behind their homes and everything they know to undertake a dangerous journey for the chance at a better life, work that Vice President Biden led in the Obama-Biden Administration. At the same time, we must never forget that immigration is the reason the United States has been able to constantly renew and reinvent itself–legal immigration is an incredible source of strength for our country.

Buttigieg: https://peteforamerica.com/issues/#Democracy
hard to find:Pass common sense immigration reform.
We must reclaim our nation’s standing as a human rights leader by implementing common sense immigration reform that will secure our values. The greatest nation in the world should have nothing to fear from children fleeing violence. More importantly, children fleeing violence should have nothing to fear from the greatest nation in the world. We must remember that immigrants are an essential part of our American story. Immigration creates strong families and communities who contribute to our economic growth and participate in our vibrant democracy.
Common sense immigration reform must include a pathway to citizenship for immigrants living, working, paying taxes, and contributing to our American story, including DREAMers; resources to end the backlogs in our lawful immigration and asylum processes; and reasonable security measures at the border. Most Americans support such a package, and it is long past time for Washington to deliver.
OTHER CRITICAL POLICY AREAS
Modernize our immigration laws to reflect today’s humanitarian and economic needs
Restore our global leadership in humanitarian relief for refugees
End the family separation crisis and evaluate ICE and CBP practices to ensure similar humanitarian crises never happen again
Reinstate enforcement priorities and prevent arbitrary targeting of immigrant communities by enforcement officials

If you are against a "rules-based system that is fair, humane, and that reflects our values" then you MAY NOT BE A DEMOCRAT. That's totally fine.
Depending on where you live, it is actually not fine!
In Montgomery County, it is incredibly difficult to not be a Democrat.
I didn't vote for Trump in the last election, but will be voting for him in 2020. My kid is old enough to be aware of what's going on, and he know how I feel and why I vote the way I do. However, after the last election, there was some insanely disrespectful rhetoric at school. Like I said, I voted for Hillary, but the kids were saying some terrible stuff about Trump supporters and how they were all stupid and racist and how Trump was an 'orange Cheeto', etc. We talked about it even back then, because I felt that people vote for different reasons, and there's no need to be that disrespectful.
My nephew's dad is a police officer, and he has to keep that quiet at school, because where he attends HS, there's a very 'anti-police' sentiment. I find that insane.
There is a ton of social pressure on people in MoCo to be liberal Democrats, lest they be labelled racist, stupid a$$holes.
you deserve all the opprobrium you get if you are in favor of Trump's insanely inhumane immigration actions, and the evil rhetoric that goes with it. move to Leesburg if you want a different "culture."

I posted on another thread that I've been wondering the same thing as OP for years. I sometimes even come on this board to see if I can get a better understanding of where the pro-illegal immigration posters are coming from.
I truly think it must come down to money. Maybe we need to follow the money.
Who is going to benefit from the millions of dollars being spent in CA to provide illegal immigrants with health insurance? Maybe some providers, but mostly it will be the insurance companies who benefit. Taxpayers pay for the health insurance, and the state pays the insurance companies. Maybe that's why that law ultimately passed?
In Maryland, CASA de Maryland is an insanely corrupt organization that is raking in money and has a ton of political influence.
There are plenty of wealthy people in the US who are benefiting from the current system of illegal immigration.
Maybe I'm a cynic, but I truly believe it must come down to money. Why else would there be such a lack of support for immigration reform? This seems like it should be an issue that people should agree on. Illegal immigration benefits nobody, except the wealthy (cheap labor) and politicians (votes).
there's a TON of research out there showing that immigration (illegal and legal) has more benefits than costs for the entire country ... but I don't expect you to engage honestly with it. I tried that here and y'all demonstrated you don't care about actually learning about it.

Yup! And the Ds are so out of touch that they don't realize this. What they are bacsically saying is "vote for me because I will give benefits to people who break into our country illegally."
Sorry, not a winning campaign message.
It actually is a winning campaign message in some parts of the country!
In Montgomery County, the AOC rally was well-attended and local politicians tout how MoCo is a Sanctuary County. Montgomery county is solid blue and voters will support candidates who support illegal immigration.
Look at CA. They passed a law to offer taxpayer-funded healthcare to illegal immigrants.
I lived in Mo Co for over 50 years (born and raised there). So I've seen changes. The wealthy areas remain "untouched" for now. Bethesda is thriving with its elite businesses and
Rockville is a hub for after-work activities and daily shopping. Chevy Chase and Potomac are wealthy suburban pockets that attract the Maryland "elite."
doubtful people in these areas are rallying around AOC and local politicians who support protections for illegal immigrants
Takoma Park and parts of Silver Spring, however, are welcoming and people will attend rallies, support legislation, and place signs in their yards expressing "love over hate."
I sound so stereotypical, but those are the two worlds in Mo Co. Sure, you have a moderate middle, but they're shrinking.
According to this article (https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/government/county-beefs-up-immigration-resources-in-response-to-federal-deportation-plan/), there are about 275,000 undocumented immigrants in Mo Co, which has a population of over 1m. Undocumented immigrants, therefore, make up about 1/4 of the population.
People move around the county; they move out of the county. But all in all, people move to find "their tribe." I imagine that this population will grow given Mo Co's sanctuary status.
MCPS is studying boundaries. not sure how that will work out - But at this point, many people in wealthy areas are upset over the thought of rezoning, fearing their property values will decrease.
so . . . If Mo Co is blue, maybe we need to examine a wealthy Democrat's beliefs.
just sayin'
But, maybe they are. They don't want to lose their source of cheap labor. They employ the illegal immigrants at their homes and businesses and want to keep the flow of cheap labor going! They don't have to deal with the collateral effects in their neighborhoods, because the illegal immigrants don't actually live in their neighborhoods. Their kids don't attend MCPS, and don't have to deal with the challenges that MCPS faces.
I completely agree that Montgomery County has changed. I haven't lived here as long, but even over the past 15 years, there have been drastic changes in my middle class neighborhood, and in my kids' schools.
I feel like 1/4 of the population may be correct, but in my area it is WAY higher.
I have had neighbors/friends/co-workers all leave to go to either Howard/Frederick or Loudoun Counties. Citing various reasons like our neighborhood got 'too crowded' or the schools weren't 'challenging' enough. But, you know what, these rabidly liberal friends continue to post on FB about how they support illegal immigration, and other Democratic policies. It's really difficult to me to understand how they reconcile their support for pro-illegal immigration policy with their distaste of what the results of those policies have been in MoCo.
wanting people to be treated humanely does not mean being "pro illegal immigration".
