Pouting is the height of rudeness. The OP shouldn't have to sneak around to throw out the food. Politely declining is perfectly fine. If someone is rude enough to not accept a polite decline then there is not need to feed their rudeness. Being gracious does not mean enabling rude people. [/quote] In theory I agree that polite, but firm refusal is the best option, but sometimes it takes less energy to accept and then dump. After a week or two at the beach with a long drive home still ahead of me, sometimes accepting and dumping is the way I have to do it. (I am not the author of the original comment.)[/quote]
