We have games that can be played collaboratively like minecraft (4 players in the same world), mario kart (4 players, up to 8, but we just have stuff for 4), super smash brothers (4 players, up to 8 but again we are limited to 4).

I have a 14 yr old.  We have other games but they aren't multiplayer. I was responding to the idea that gaming systems don't lead to socializing. My 14 yr old is online now (west coast) playing minecraft and talking to his friends while they are all playing in the same realm. [/quote]

Ok, so?  The poster said nothing about how much time is spent on the screen.

My son plays travel sports in the summer, varsity in during the school year, is a member of ROTC, and just took his APs and so far has a 4.2 as a Junior, will be higher once the grades come in for Q4.

He also socializes, like all his other peers during his downtime via collaborative game play.  [/quote]
