You probably get a few paid holidays right? Our pay is divided to give equal paychecks during the year but those days are not contract days so we do not get paid. Hence, not vacation.[/quote]

Public school teacher and now principal--almost 30 years total--here. Come on, PP. Yes, it is vacation in the eyes of the world, including educators. You're not working and can enjoy the time as you please.  Please stop with quibbling with semantics. It's not a good look. [/quote]

+1. This argument is just dumb. Teachers are not hourly wage workers. They get paid an annual salary and enjoy benefits year round. Days off from teaching are just that: days off. They are not days unemployed.
