Thanks for the insights, poster above. With an in-pool child (just barely, with a 130 NNAT and 115 -120 CogAt) how critical is it to submit a private WISC on appeal? GBRS is 12. I really don't want to spend the bucks unnecessarily.
I had a child with a similar profile (a little different, though -- CogAt was over 130 because of one perfect subtest, but NNAT under 130 and GBRS of 12). We did get the WISC, which showed the subtest wasn't a fluke. I think it's what put us over the edge (although I'll never really know). On appeal, you have to submit some new information. If you don't have the WISC, it's hard to find other stuff. Also, the WISC is objective (rather than submitting another recommendation or something, which would be subjective). The WISC will convince them (and you -- we wanted to make sure we weren't doing the wrong thing) That your child belongs there. Also, the WISC gives you a nice picture of your child's strengths and weaknesses. We took DC to GMU, where they do al of the subtests, so you get a lot of info.
