I teach in MCPS. Let's say we had a field trip that involved swimming. It doesn't happen, but let's say it did. First of all, the chances that I'd be in a bathing suit at all are slim to none. If I was in a bathing suit, I'd have a modest cover up over it and wouldn't get in the pool as long as lifeguards were present. Even without lifeguards present I'd be better off out of the pool to be able to scan the whole pool. But let's say for argument's sake that I did get in the pool. When I would get out of the pool I would be immediately covered in a towel and then put my cover up back on as soon as I wasn't soaking wet anymore. If I was in the locker room, I'd tell all the kids to rinse off while wearing their bathing suits. I'd stand in an area of the locker room where I could hear everything that was going on, but wouldn't be looking directly at the kids changing. I would remind parent volunteers to make sure they change in an individual stall and definitely would stop them from showering in the nude. I would be comfortable overseeing none of this, considering any amount of nudity while on the job is inappropriate in my eyes. So therefore a pool field trip would not be something I would agree to attend and oversee. But for argument's sake, this is how I would handle it. I would also make sure I wasn't the only school employee in the locker room. For the record, I'm not a prude at all. I'm fine with nudity. But not on a school trip. There is no place for that on a school trip. So in my eyes there were several adults there that day that made really poor choices, including OP. And I'd seriously question the teacher's judgement that she thought showering nude in front of children she teaches is acceptable in any way. And that she took the parent volunteer's word that it was fine. What the hell was she thinking?
I teach in a private school, I posted above that I've done plenty of field trips and never had a kid see me naked. This is generally what I do, except that we have one chaperone (assuming 2, otherwise 1/2) get out and change in a stall before the kids get out. Then the other usually waits and changes after the dressed chaperone takes the kids up to the lobby. Before the trip, staff put our suits on in the faculty restroom before we leave for the trip. I teach special ed, so I am in the water, because I have kids who need support.
