She may not be the victim from the strictly legal perspective, but she was definitely victimized.
She is a pedophile predator wrapped in the package of a feminine woman. You see a girl so you must think that this was somehow not her fault? Are you able to convince yourself that her male victim is now victimizing her? Serious question.
I think she's victimized by the process, by the tabloid media, and yes, even to some extent by her "victim", yes. The young man was only a victim in the strictest legal sense of the word. He was a minor. He certainly didn't act like a victim, he was a willing partner in the relationship. The only thing that made him a "victim" was the law. Would a man in the same circumstances be a victim? No. He'd be a sexual predator. Because men and women are different. Period. That's reality.
So I can come over and have sex with your middle schlooler is what you’re saying?
Assuming you're relatively attractive and fit/in shape, my 11th grader would almost certainly be sexually attracted to you. As would most of his friends. If you offered him the opportunity, I'm certain he would have sex with you. Have you ever had a teenage son? They're literally walking erections. It's simple biology. Would I approve of him having sex with you? Not really, because I'd like to see him with someone his own age. But I wouldn't think for a minute that he'd pass up an opportunity to have sex with you if it presented. Boys are just that way. For them, it's just another form of masturbation.
NP here. You are very out of line with the mainstream here. First, there's a world of difference between a 12 year old (how old Fualaau was when the pedophilia began) and a 16 or 17 year old (the age most 11 graders are). In many states, 16 is considered the age of majority for consensual sex. Many people have argued that mature 15 year olds are mature enough to consent to sex, but not everyone. 12? You are the only person I have ever heard from who believes that a 12 year old can reasonable be mature enough to have consensual sex. While it is true that biologically they are ready (as is obvious by the many who do have early sex), it is non-consensual and the law says that they cannot consent because they aren't mature enough to understand the consequences. While it is understandable that minors whose body is ready sexually want to experiment, it is incumbent upon adults not to take advantage of that state of biology. Yes, they are physically ready, but they are not emotionally or mature enough to actually consent. Even her husband, the victim, says this in a solo interview: http://toofab.com/2018/09/24/mary-kay-letourneau-combative-tv-interview-vili-fualaau-children-daughters/
In a solo interview, Fualaau said that what she did was legally "wrong," and added that they "maybe should have waited" to have a physical relationship. "I think about it, could I have ever done that, could I have ever been with a girl that's 13 years old right now and I don't see myself doing it," the now-35-year-old said.
He is about the age she was when she raped him. And he knows now that it's wrong and that he wouldn't do it. She was 34 years old and she's not the first teacher or other adult that has been propositioned and chased by a minor with raging hormones and a body popping after puberty. It is the adult's responsibility to understand how wrong it is to give in to such propositions and pressures. It was no more right for her to prey upon him at his tender age (sexually mature and aggressive or not) than it is for a male teacher to prey upon a sexually mature and aggressive 12 or 13 year old girl. It's disgusting and reprehensible. The additional crime is that she was given a lighter sentence than would have been given had she been male. It's also despicable that she is unrepentant and feels that she was wrongly convicted. No remorse. And still no understanding that she is so morally bankrupt.
