But when it comes to a classic layer cake a good store bakery can bake very good and very reliable layer cakes. As long as the ingredients are good it will be just fine and tasty. Even a basic cake mix can be quite good (the ones to avoid are the ones that have weird flavors or add pudding), and of course, storemade icing is to be avoided at all cost.
