I agree. Reading some De Becker stuff actually put me on a path to learning about how to overcome implicit bias. He explains the kinds of situations actual criminals take advantage of and what to avoid. It lead me to being more analytical about threat assessment, not to just "go with my gut." The direct result of this was that I learned to actually LOOK AT people and situations rather than just my gut. [/quote]

I got no qualms with your theory that stupid white women should "go with their gut" when it comes to their suspicions of black/brown people.  
I got no qualms with your argument that actual black criminals take advantage of these stupid white women's apprehension of appearing racist.
You know what I got qualms with - the denial on the other end of the spectrum.  The denial of those "gut feelings" when its a suspicious white person.

Question:
Do you have any qualms with stupid white women being more inclined to "go with their gut" when it comes to suspicions of white people too?

I hope not because you do know actual white criminals take advantage of stupid white women's naivete in thinking that white is alright.
Think about it.  It never fails.  After the fact whenever infamous/nefarious white child molesters and white serial killers and white sex traffickers and white drug smugglers and white mass murderers and white domestic terrorists are finally caught or exposed there's always dozens of stupid white women getting interviewed by reporters about the sicko who lived right next door.
And they're just shaking their heads stupefied in disbelief saying, "I knew there was something odd about him, but I didn't think anything of it."
They sensed something in their gut when it came that white dude too but they weren't afraid of "looking racist" no...they just were in total denial that another white person could be dangerous.
