I asked my neighbor, who knows everything that happens on the street (every block has one of those right???) and she said all the neighbors adjacent to her and me indicated they have no visitors with a VA van parked in front of my house. I am confident this van owner does NOT live on this street.
But more importantly, the car has an expired inspection sticker (dated 9/2017) and the car has NOT moved since last Saturday (i know because I have a security camera and it alerts me whenever there is movement in front of my house).
I will report this car on Monday via 311.
Thanks everyone

There are abandoned car laws. You can't just park your car and leave it somewhere forever. After a few days they will boot it and tow it. You don't actually know if someone is returning to get the car. Or they could have stolen the car and then abandoned it or maybe someone's dead in there.

This vehicle would not meet the Abandoned Vehicle standard as it does not meet 2 of the requirements. The city is actually very lax about vehicles that never move, so long as you keep its registration current and the vehicle can still operate. There's posts on Popville about neighbors who keep a junker car in the same spot all year but the city won't do anything if there's no street sweeping.
I simply don't understand why these people keep the cars. They never use them.

When people complain about having cars parked in front of their house for any period of time in Arlington, everyone on this board chastises them and says that it is a public street any one can park there. Heaven forbid anyone should want to have spots open in front of their house. DC must be a whole separate world.

VA MD and DC need to just accept eachothers vehicles
If you are the visitor of a dc resident, then your host should have a guest pass for you.
That is absurd. DC is not a gated community.

It's hard to get one. You have to go get one every time.
