The part in bold gets conveniently omitted giving a distorted and misleading interpretation. The entire quote conveys a whole different message. Yes, every person in the armed forces knows the risks of being in the military and when one makes the ultimate sacrifice it is a known risk but it is still painful.

You should try that line at the next funeral you attend.

The president represents the country. He’s supposed to be telling a widow he’s sorry for what HE asked her loved one to sign up for.  The soldier took an oath and died for HIM, the sorriest US president to ever hold the office.

I would say that someone should supply the Dumpster with a cheat sheet to read on these calls, but I’m starting to think he’s illiterate. [/quote]
